2000 Plus – When the Machines Went Mad

2000 Plus – When the Machines Went Mad — Classic Science Fiction Radio

Before Dimension X. Before X Minus One. There was 2000 Plus.

Broadcast during the early 1950s, 2000 Plus was one of radio’s pioneering science-fiction anthology programs, taking listeners into worlds of advanced technology, space exploration, strange experiments, artificial intelligence, alien encounters, and futures that once seemed impossibly far away.

Each self-contained story uses the limitless canvas of radio to ask one of science fiction’s oldest questions: What happens next?

Some episodes imagine marvelous scientific progress. Others look at the darker possibilities hiding behind mankind’s inventions. Robots, rockets, distant planets, mysterious discoveries, and ordinary people suddenly confronted by extraordinary events all become part of the world of 2000 Plus.

More than seven decades later, there is something especially fascinating about hearing how storytellers of 1950 imagined the world of tomorrow — a future that, in many cases, we are now living beyond.
