Candy Matson, YUkon 2-8209 | The Egyptian Amulet | B4TV Radio Detective Theater

An ancient-looking amulet, strange Egyptian writing, and a simple favor from Lt. Ray Mallard pull Candy Matson into a case that gets darker the closer she looks.

In The Egyptian Amulet, Mallard asks Candy to help get an inscription translated. Candy turns to Rembrandt Watson for help, only to find him in the middle of moving — and when she offers to help him find a new place, the search leads her straight into trouble. What begins as a curious little object becomes another sharp San Francisco mystery, with Candy following the clues before the past can bury the truth. Great Detectives lists the original airdate as September 12, 1950, and the OTRR/Archive.org single-episode file also identifies the episode as 50-09-12.

Candy Matson, YUkon 2-8209 stars Natalie Parks as Candy Matson, with Henry Leff as Lt. Ray Mallard and Jack Thomas as Rembrandt Watson. Created by Monty Masters, the series sends Candy from her Telegraph Hill apartment into real San Francisco and Bay Area locations, mixing private-eye mystery, wit, atmosphere, and one of old time radio’s strongest female detective leads.
