The Shadow – Episode 005: Circle of Death

The Shadow continues with “Circle of Death,” a dark and suspenseful old time radio mystery starring Orson Welles as Lamont Cranston and Agnes Moorehead as Margo Lane.

A sinister pattern begins to emerge as murder, fear, and deception close in around the innocent. What appears at first to be a strange criminal puzzle soon becomes a deadly circle of secrets, suspicion, and danger — the kind of mystery only The Shadow can enter unseen.

As Lamont Cranston investigates, he follows a trail of hidden guilt and ruthless intent, using his mysterious power to cloud men’s minds and expose evil where ordinary justice cannot reach. With its blend of crime drama, pulp atmosphere, psychological suspense, and eerie Golden Age radio tension, “Circle of Death” delivers another classic chapter in one of radio’s most iconic mystery series.

Originally associated with the November 28, 1937 broadcast of The Shadow, this episode belongs to the early Orson Welles and Agnes Moorehead era, a period that helped define the series’ unforgettable sound and lasting legacy. Archive sources commonly list the episode as “Circle of Death” or “The Circle of Death,” so B4TV is using the cleaner title format for consistency.
