1732 | Cavalcade of America – Benjamin Franklin
B4TV: America 250 — On The Air

Before there was a United States… there were men shaping the ideas that would become it.

In this episode of Cavalcade of America, we step into the life of Benjamin Franklin — printer, inventor, philosopher, diplomat, and one of the most influential Founding Fathers in American history.

Born in 1706, Franklin’s influence was already spreading across the colonies by the 1730s. From publishing and civic reform to science and political thought, his fingerprints are everywhere in the story of early America. Long before the Revolution, Franklin was helping define what an American mind looked like — curious, practical, inventive, and independent.

This dramatized radio presentation captures the spirit of the era through the powerful storytelling style of classic Old Time Radio. You’ll hear the crackle of colonial printing presses, the urgency of ideas spreading through pamphlets, and the character of a man who helped light the intellectual fire that would eventually ignite a nation.

As part of B4TV: America 250 — On The Air, we’re working our way through the years leading up to and beyond the founding of the United States, celebrating the voices, events, and stories that shaped the Republic — as heard through classic radio.

Turn back the clock.

The year is 1732.

And America is beginning to think.
