Buck Rogers – April 5, 1939 – Episode 1

🎙️ Buck Rogers in the 25th Century — Classic Radio Episode

Travel into the future with another episode of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, one of the earliest and most influential science-fiction adventure programs ever produced for radio.

Premiering in the late 1930s, Buck Rogers brought futuristic storytelling to life at a time when space travel existed only in imagination. Adapted from the wildly popular newspaper comic strip and pulp stories, the radio series introduced audiences to rocket ships, advanced technology, distant worlds, and serialized cliffhanger storytelling that would become a blueprint for generations of sci-fi to follow.

Originally broadcast in April 1939, these episodes represent the final known surviving run of the classic Buck Rogers radio serial. Like many daily radio programs of the era, episodes were broadcast live and rarely preserved, making surviving recordings extremely scarce. As a result, the episodes heard here are considered the only known surviving broadcasts of the original Buck Rogers radio series.

Each episode delivers fast-paced adventure, bold heroics, and imaginative world-building, capturing the excitement listeners felt tuning in day after day during radio’s golden age. Long before television science fiction — and decades before modern space franchises — Buck Rogers helped establish the themes, pacing, and larger-than-life storytelling that still define the genre today.

Perfect for fans of old time radio, vintage science fiction, pulp-era heroes, and classic serial adventures, this episode preserves a rare piece of broadcasting history — exactly as it was heard in 1939.

🎧 Close your eyes, fire up your imagination, and let Buck Rogers take you to the future.
