The Shadow – Episode 003: The Temple Bells of Neban

The Shadow continues with “The Temple Bells of Neban,” a strange and atmospheric mystery from the classic 1937 radio run starring Orson Welles as Lamont Cranston and Agnes Moorehead as Margo Lane.

When a disturbing mystery begins spreading through the lives of wealthy young socialites, Lamont Cranston is drawn into a case involving strange influence, hidden danger, and the eerie legend of the Temple Bells of Neban. What begins as an unsettling social mystery soon turns darker, pulling The Shadow into a world of fear, deception, and criminal manipulation.

With his mysterious power to cloud men’s minds, The Shadow moves unseen through the danger, following the clues others miss and confronting evil where ordinary justice cannot reach. “The Temple Bells of Neban” blends crime drama, pulp adventure, suspense, and a touch of exotic mystery in the classic Golden Age radio style that made The Shadow one of the most unforgettable names in old time radio.

Originally associated with the October 24, 1937 broadcast of The Shadow, this episode features the early dramatic pairing of Orson Welles and Agnes Moorehead, whose performances helped define the show’s legendary sound and shadowy atmosphere. The title is preserved across multiple archive listings, though B4TV’s episode number reflects our available-audio presentation order rather than a complete original broadcast chronology.
