The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes :: The Viennese Strangler

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson enter a world of music, blackmail, and murder in a case where a desperate pianist may be playing for his life.

In “The Viennese Strangler,” a musician comes to Holmes seeking help against a dangerous blackmailer. But when Holmes investigates, the case takes a darker turn: the blackmailer is found dead, and what first looked like extortion becomes a mystery tangled in fear, motive, and deadly timing.

Starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson, this 1945 episode of The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes delivers classic Golden Age radio suspense with a sharp musical edge — elegant on the surface, nasty underneath, just the way a proper Holmes mystery should be.
