Lux Radio Theater – Mr Deeds Goes to Town {Gary Cooper, Jean Arthur}

Lux Radio Theatre presents MR. DEEDS GOES TO TOWN, starring Gary Cooper and Jean Arthur.

Small-town poet and tuba player Longfellow Deeds suddenly inherits a fortune and finds himself thrown into a world of big-city lawyers, newspaper reporters, opportunists and people determined to separate him from his newfound wealth.

Gary Cooper and Jean Arthur bring Frank Capra’s celebrated romantic comedy-drama to radio, preserving the humor, warmth and wonderfully eccentric characters that made Mr. Deeds Goes to Town one of Hollywood’s enduring classics.

At its best, Lux Radio Theatre did more than simply retell famous movies — it brought major Hollywood stars directly into America’s living rooms and allowed audiences to rediscover familiar stories through sound, dialogue and imagination.
